Easter is always a bit of a weird one. Buying hundreds of chocolate eggs to receive them back seems a bit old fashioned somehow. Don’t get me wrong I’m completely OK with overloading on chocolate and hot cross buns at this time of year but I personally LOVE giving unexpected gifts to family and friends. It’s something I always put a lot of thought into and really enjoy doing. So here’s a quick run-down of a few alternative gifts that will be a perfect substitute for chocolate this Easter…
THE DAD/BROTHER/PARTNER (JUST MALES IN GENERAL REALLY)
I’m guessing those Christmas socks have had their day by now. Give a cheerful spring yellow pair and cook him eggs on toast – perfect Easter Sunday!
THE MOTHER (WHO LOVES ODD OBJECTS AROUND THE HOUSE)
If your Mum is anything like mine – she loves plants, greenery and random objects around the house which makes your family house a home. I love this random Llama planter right here (maybe that means I’m turning into my Mum!) but nevertheless it’s a great gift! On sale at West Elm now.
THE BEST FRIEND (THAT YOU KNOW YOU SHOULD SEE MORE OF!)
Since living in London I miss my best friend more than ever. Succulents make a great gift, they are easy to send in the post and live for a long long time! I recommend Prick LDN or Geo-Fleur for all your succulent/plant/cacti needs.
THE GRANDPARENT (OR GARDEN LOVER)
I just love these bird feeders currently on sale at the new Design Museum in Kensington. I could imagine these hanging in a stunning contemporary country pad, filled with blossom and Pimms, of course. Also, I reckon they could look stunning with fairy lights and a bit of greenery draped over them… Just a thought!
THE FASHIONISTA FRIEND (OR A GIFT TO YOURSELF!)
I’ve wanted a pair of these earrings for AGES. Big earrings are a S/S 17 favourite and H&M are absolutely smashing it this season. I was desperate for a red pair but I had to settle for blue, not that I’m complaining. They are so easy to wear (surprisingly) I’ve partnered them with a dark green midi dress which I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing all spring/summer this year. Get down to H&M for reasonable cute jewellery for your fashionista buddy or just as a gift to yourself 😉
THE SENTIMENTAL FRIEND
A photo holder for those who love displaying memories in their home. I love these gold and brass ones from Oliver Bonas. Go to Boots, get a photo printed, pop it the top of one of these – a great simple gift and all for the same price as an Easter egg!
Wishing you all a very Happy Easter and enjoy your long bank holiday weekend 🙂
